Who Barrie has appointed to its boards and committees, and who has
served on the outside bodies where the city holds seats: 79 bodies, 338 people and 1,304 sourced statements. Every statement is one document saying a person held, entered or left a
seat — a council motion, a board's own member list, a provincial order, a news report.
Councillors are linked to their candidate profiles. Appointees who have never
run for office have their own profiles, listed A to Z. A name is linked
only when the record shows who it is: a councillor is the member of the council sitting on that
date, anyone else is matched by exact name with any doubt held back, and
65 statements whose names
cannot be pinned down (a bare initial, a printing error, a name shared with a candidate and
nothing tying the two) show the name as printed.
What this record is not. It is not complete.
Council
minutes are online only from 2013, so earlier terms rest on archived City web pages, the
bodies' own reports and the news. Council adopted each term's full slate of appointments by
reference to an appendix or by-law schedule that the City's meeting system does not let this
site retrieve; those slates are the biggest gap, and a body marked here with few names may have
had many more members.
Statutory boards
Statutory boards: people on record and the years the record covers
Source: research passes of October 9, 2026:
City of Barrie council and committee minutes (eScribe, 2013 onward) and archived City web
pages; the bodies' own annual reports, member lists and minutes (Barrie Police Services Board,
Barrie Public Library, Downtown Barrie BIA, Lake Simcoe Region and Nottawasaga Valley
conservation authorities, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Barrie Hydro and its
successors); Ontario's Public Appointments Secretariat and Internet Archive captures of it; and
local news.
Each statement names its own source on the body's page; every one was checked
word for word against an archived copy of that source.
